Airfield identification in a film

Please can anyone help identify the RAF airfield used in the 1953 film
CONFLICT OF WINGS, starring, John Gregson and Muriel Pavlow.
For anyone who hasn`t seen this film and is interested in the RAF, it is a must. It is colour for one thing, and has some great footage of Vampires,Swifts and a meteor trainer.Oh, and Land Rovers, which Iam also interested in. As far as I know, it has never been available on video or dvd, but a copy can be purchased from a company called.. raremoviesuk.co.uk

Thank you for that, I never thought to do a search. According to what I can see, Ludham was closed in 1946 and the photos on the internet don`t show it anywhere near the size of the airfield in the film.

A CONFLICT OF WINGS 1953 PAL DVD Shot in Norfolk near RAF Coltishall, this is a great old Ealing film, that stars Muriel Pavlow & John Gregson. About how locals try to stop a missile base being built, that threatens a local bird sanctuary. Technical quality a bit rough here & there, but very watchable.

Having looked on imdb filming was also done at Cley so it seems likely that West Raynham may have been used. But dont forget that in West Norfolk in the fifties there were three active airfields in the fifties and they all had the same design of tower!!!

From the screen grab images Vampire FB5 VV624 can be clearly seen.
This particular aircraft belly-landed near Cambridge in 1956 while assigned to 5 FTS who operated out of Oakington from June 1954.

As for the tower, it's a "Fort Type" 207/36 with Modification 4698/43 so West Raynham seems likely.

Could it be Watton?

No, as Watton's 207/36 "Fort" wasn't modified with the 4698/43 upper floor, and remained effectively as-built until it was demolished a few years ago.
It was superceded by a new 12779/41 (mods to 343/43) tower which later had a 2-storey VCR added.
