Same here, looks a bit like Exeter A30 (now M5), A303 area - but dosen't fit with NPs clues.
Even the distant airfield seems to have two runways at a shallow angle to each other, like Exeter airport.
Would be interesting to know what the sector station is.

Yes - I'd already rejected that area because the nearest airfield to Exeter would have been Haldon/Teignmouth - and that was a good 12-15 miles away-- plus - back in the 50s the main road was on the other side of Exeter Airport - the old Honiton road.

The airfield in question is post-WW2, the airfield in the top of the picture has three hard runways, one of which is in view, the airfield in question has been a thread here on AiX, in the SW section. Now people, surely you dont want any more clues. Daveg4otu shame on you, though I must admit, I had fogotten about this pic when you raised the question.

Edit! The two posts above were submitted at the same time as mine!

You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!

Thats what I was thinking, but Exeter wasn't a sector station, plus NP seems to suggest it isn't Exeter aswel?!

Not as far as I know - but look at Stevo's Flash link - particularly the shape of the road junction and roundabout W of the field- definitely the place...the big building is I'm certain ,the SW Water place that was built on our Bertrams little airfield.

I know the Battle of Britain sector stations but not sure what happened to sectors from 1941, especially after the creation of ADGB after 2TAF in 1943.
I excluded Exeter also. If it is a postwar field then I have very little knowledge of them. Still it seems to have got us all thinking, and by the sound of it alomg the same lines as well. Hands up those who have been searching Flash Earth with it reorientated?

Did mine on Googleearth- Flash doesn't work so well on linux- but yes I twisted it!

The only sector stations that can be considered remotely South West were Filton and Middle Wallop.
