Spent a great (but absolutely soaked) day at the Cosby Victory Show last Saturday. The re-enactors where as brilliant as ever & the land battle was excellent despite the weather. Full credit to all involved.
As for the flying display???......Well, full credit to the CAA for completely ruining another great airshow. The new display line is at a 45 degree line at the end of the runway meaning everything flies to the crowds right shoulder & is now so far away that it's like there is an airshow being held at another event nearby at different venue on the same day as the Victory Show. I'm not exaggerating it really was that ridiculous, all of which means that everybody freeloading outside the show will get a great view & it will encourage more to do the same...surely thats the opposite of what the CAA want after Shoreham??? There was a LOT of moaning in the crowdline with many photographers giving up as the aircraft where to far away to get decent shots. I feel sorry for the display pilots & the organisers. It must be so frustrating for them. All the aircraft that did fly put on great displays in tricky weather conditions (on Saturday when I visited). Just a shame they looked like they where displaying over Warwickshire rather than Leicestershire.

Anyway, all was not lost on the weather & the CAA, here's a selection of pics I took -

Part 2 coming up...

My second set from the Cosby Victory Show -

All in all it was another enjoyable day at Cosby. The re-enactors where brilliant. but there really does need to be a comprimise with the CAA over the flying display rules. It's such a shame because it's usually a real highlight of the airshow season & the flying WAS up there with Old Warden for it's atmosphere & uniqueness as a venue for watching aircraft display.

I really like the idea of the green corn fields being used to fight within.
Gives the pictures are very sinister feel. If you don't know what I mean, watch "The Thin Red Line".

Great pics Steve :) Thanks for sharing.
