I just been trying to find some things in Admiralty War Diaries on FOLD3. They have changed to the search system and just not finding things at all now even though I know I have found the same keywords previously.

Not a big surprise as it is linked to Ancestry which has also (expletive of your choice) their search system. My wife can no longer find the information she had in saved searches. It is no doubt all part of an "improved customer experience".

Have you always been able to download a whole file from FOLD3?

I was looking at a WWI personnel file, I was going to download all the pages then put into a PDF but found I could download the whole file. I don't remember seeing that before. It was the whole film so more than I needed but I can always edit the PDF down to remove the unwanted pages.

I have never had occasion to download a complete file usually have to save individual pages. Now that you have indicated the possibility I will give it a try. It would be very useful to be able to save a complete file for reading and editing. What is the procedure?

I looked for it a few years back and couldn't find any way of doing it. It must be a recent addition. I also noticed on my last visit that I was unable to download photos a JPG's only as a PDF. A real pain as converting 60 odd PDF's to JPG's is not easy or quick without Acrobat Professional.

You need to find a record with multiple pages

www.fold3.com/image/515231086?rec=612819608&terms=corpach

When you go to download, you now see

I have in the past download who documents of 100+ pages but done it the hard way then just combined them with Adobe Acrobat

You seem to be able to download an image as a PDF

You don't seem to be able to select a series of pictures and download together.

You use the crossed hammer and spanner symbol at the top of the screen.

I just download something at random and added to my reply - I will delete later so FOLD3 do not get upset!

Not seen "Entire File" option before but then again I haven't been on it much in the last year so may not have noticed it when viewing whole files.

Just checked the JPG option. It is still there but clicking on it for entire page option does nothing and creating a PDF takes a while if you have loads, plus the converting effort already mentioned. Not sure why this was disabled as it was the only thing I used, I suspect it was an "enhancement to the customer experience".

Can anyone else download photos as JPG or is it just me that can't?
