is the WTP view. ( I am currently having issues with Google Earth / Maps in that when I come out of street view the location changes. Never used to happen). I note that the Nissen seems to be missing from the old 25K map which suggests it's possibly relocated.
I then noticed these objects
and wondered what they might be. Probably nothing relevant.
". The dawn of of the Electronic Age " note 217,by Frederic Nebeker quotes that "Meaconing"(Masking beacons) were used with good effect to counter the "Knickebein" VHF signals..
I thinks he's wrong here and is getting confused with a number of systems.
I have another American book, 'Blind Landings' which is very good when discussing the USA information but contains a number of inaccuracies regarding UK history.
Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite

Good spot Carnaby, but I think these are those big plastic cubes withe the steel outer cage for water storage. Judging by the wear on the ground around them, they're used for livestock watering. I spotted the absence of the Nissen too, and agree that its' from another site. There used to be quite a few kicking about along the coastal road from Rimac to North Somercotes when I was a lad,. A busy spot for defences in wartime and lots of troops needing shelter.

Many thanks, well spotted...I had a quick look at the square objects and near one them is a ground mark approx. 24 X 50 odd feet, its perhaps just a coincidence that 24 feet is one of the Nissen standard widths.
I have had another look at Nebeker,I am using the free preview version and some of the source info. is missing...He does say that the info regarding Knickebein "Meacons" was sourced from books by Dear(with M.R.D.Foot ?)and R.V.Jones and gives page numbers....The books should be listed on the sources page but I am unable to do so as I am using the preview version....The ebook in full is quite expensive....He also used the word "Fuse" and not "fuze"....oh dear!
I had another look at Bomber County 2 by Hancock and he mentions on page 55 that a Meacon was opened at Louth in March 1941 with Transmitters being at South Elkington and the receivers at Legbourne. There is a file relating to 80 Signals Group in the National Archives,I am going down there in June for a few days but I have so many other records to look up that I doubt I will have time to look it up.
Thanks fellas. I don't suppose there's a Grid Ref for the South Elkington site kicking about or a vague location? I noticed there is a mast at North Elkington, but appears to be modern. Cheers,
I have the approximate location as 53.3653N and 0.0292W ,from the USAAF navigation "flimsy"...It is just N.W. of the roundabout on the Louth bypass(A16)..I have just recalled that there were some WW2 type buildings in that area before the Louth bypass was built....
I too feel a trip coming on.There was a VHF Fixer station at Skidbrooke as part of the ROTOR System at 148946,it was apparently operational in 1951 but had been demolished by 1970 and the site returned to agricultural use...Apparently some of these sites were located at previously used wartime locations...I wonder if this post-War VHF fixer may have been located at the USAAF wartime ASR D/F site?
