They've been working for many years to bring this to bare. We had the Canadian Lanc pilot stay with us back in 1999 when they were trying desperately to get it over here. I'm so pleased they are going to do so at last.
I understand that the Canadian Heritage Memorial Lancaster, known as " The Mynarski Lancaster " will be visiting the U.K in August, this year for period of time.
She is due to leave her home base in Canada on the 4th August and traverse the north Atlantic by the usual route, Newfoundland to Iceland and then to U.K. arriving RAF Coningsby on the 8th. She will be based at Humberside Airport, former RAF Kirmington, for the duration of her stay.
Have spoken to Humberside Airport, but apart from confirming her visit, they have no further information of her itinerary. Being that it is doubtful that we will ever see this iconic Lancaster flying in the skies above the U.K ever again, I have e mailed the Canadian Museum, where she is based and asked if they could kindly let me know her flight itinerary and the date of her departure back to Canada.
I have posted this as a general information subject in order that members are aware and don't miss this " once in a lifetime " opportunity to photograph.
