Hi

Are you talking closed airfields only? or airfield that are still open?

Anyway

Nearest open Airfield to me is Durham Tees Valley (Middleton St George) 8 miles

Nearest closed airfield in RAF Thornaby which is now housing, but some buildings still survive. 3 miles

So not many near where I live so thats why I love sites like this.

Nearest current airfield is Sheffield City (EGSY) but that won't be for much longer!

Other than that, probably Netherthorpe and I think the nearest former airfield would be Firbeck.

Nearest one to me is Conningsby, which is about 15-20 miles away.

Apart from being home to the Battle of Britain memorial flight, the new Eurofighter is based there. Bloody plane spotters swarm around that place like bees around a honeypot when they're out practising. They're even had to provide special car parking for them.

Best Wishes
