Reading this thread made me think of how many I have airfields I have near by. Within a twenty mile radius I make it twenty two,
not counting WW1 Airfields and none airfield site eg Nocton Hall.

Some of the many wartime airfields near to me from both World Wars. 'As the crow flies' these are the nearest.

RFC/RAF Rochford (Southend) 1.5 miles, nearest and still in use as Southend Airport
RFC Stow Maries 9 miles.
RFC Goldhangar 13 miles.
RAF Bradwell Bay 16 miles.
USAAF Boreham 17 miles.
RFC Suttons Farm/RAF Hornchurch 20 miles.

I note that most of those in the Reading, UK, area have not made mention of the WW1 airstrip from the Holy Brook at Coley, down past what is now the A 33 Relief Road to Fobney Meadow and the Kennet & Avon Canal. Not, perhaps, much used as it appears (in modern times) to be water-logged from about October to May. In fact, the area is known now as Reading-on-Sea!! But Coley and the Reading University early buildings, not far away, were used for the start of Tech Training Command.

RAF Riccall for me, only about a mile or so away. We often walk the dog on there and walk round what little remains.

id say near enough every member has 1 or more disuesd or active airfield within 5 miles of them dont people agree

No!!! Samlesbury is 8 miles from me.
