I thought they might have arranged for the panda to have a flight in a Spitfire or even Typhoon!

The One Show had an item tonight about a aircraft wreck in Oban Bay that had been misidentified as a Hampden and now confirmed to have been a Sunderland.

Some views around Oban and some archive film though now sure if all taken there.

I wonder how a Sunderland can be identified as a Hampden unless it was purely based an engine?

Yeah !! I can really see the awkward confusion between these two aircraft  as they are sooo similar to each other :-D Though must be difficult at certain times...I suppose

SONAR trace of a wreck, I suppose there could be something on a poor image that looked like a Hampden or perhaps it fitted with a Hampden known to be missing in the area?

They measure the wingspan and much bigger than a Hampden, also there was a feature visible that identified as a Sunderland.

Probably this one on CANMORE . (CANMORE will be off for a time some time today).

Probably very fragmentary evidence from a reported loss and perhaps a low quality SONAR type image.
