The One Show had an item tonight about a aircraft wreck in Oban Bay that had been misidentified as a Hampden and now confirmed to have been a Sunderland.
Some views around Oban and some archive film though now sure if all taken there.
Yeah !! I can really see the awkward confusion between these two aircraft as they are sooo similar to each other Though must be difficult at certain times...I suppose
I wonder how a Sunderland can be identified as a Hampden unless it was purely based an engine?
SONAR trace of a wreck, I suppose there could be something on a poor image that looked like a Hampden or perhaps it fitted with a Hampden known to be missing in the area?
They measure the wingspan and much bigger than a Hampden, also there was a feature visible that identified as a Sunderland.
