Anyone else experiencing problems with TV signals recently? Since going 100% digital you either have picture and sound or you don't, luckily most of the time it works. Currently today has been the worst of the last few days though with blank screens and no sound and sometimes displaying a weak signal message. At least with analogue you just got a degraded picture!

If you know what transmitter then check it here .

If you do not then enter your postcode here and see if any known problems - they seem to now refer to 'reduced power' as reduced quality'.

We're on freesat so doesn't affect us. Only extreme weather does that on rare occasion.

I have been told it is the weather as it is happening to others, though most seem to be on sat or cable! Clear and sunny must be bad for TV, High pressure perhaps?

I haven't looked at the weather chart but settled periods with large high pressure areas can be good for long distance UHF propagation which can be bad for TV reception if a distant station starts causing interference either to your direct reception or into the relay station. But it is also a good thing to blame bad reception on!

I think even small relay stations now have telemetry so they should be aware of many faults but you tend to find that you get a tendency to believe the system rather the person saying that reception is poor or no reception.

Next Tuesday the forgotten documentary about the Holocaust, "Night Will Fall", is to be screened for the first time on channel 4 tomorrow.

Despite the involvement of such people as Alfred Hitchcock, the film became a "political inconvenience" in the delicate Cold War climate, and so it was shelved for 70 years.

I have heard from a reliable source that filming is underway for a new TV series entitled "Defenders of the Sky: The Story of the Airfield".
The presenter is reported to be Jules Hudson.

Anyone we know involved in provided the necessary historical perspective?
