He is indeed from Lincolnshire. But it's a big county, and he's from the other end to me. They're very... different up there. It must be the altitude sickness...
Almost incomprehensible he may be, but I do admire his enthusiasm.
Maybe not ! But does he really come from there ? I absolutely love Lincolnshire, and just a soon as I can will buy a house there, Woodhall Spa, Metheringham or Sleaford. Just hope that we don't see any obscure items like the above mentioned around there.
Watching this. A great project, but surely this is replica build and not a restoration/renovation despite the claims during the programme? Were there any original parts from the crash in the aircraft?
Just seen the end part of the Guy Martin Spitfire project. Some great bits on the engineering side but one thing confused me - did the Spitfire really have 0.50 cal Brownings at some stage? Surely the wings were too thin?
One excellent bit was the .50 Cal Browning giving the good news to a BMW!
No Amount Of Evidence Will Ever Persuade An Idiot (probably not Mark Twain)

Yes Peter some later Spitfires did carry 0.50 Brownings usually with 20mm cannon, but not the Mk1 version.
I'm not really that much interested in Jet aircraft, but, I have just watched a very interesting programme called;- Jet! When Britain Ruled the Skies military marvels. 1 of 2 on BBC 4. This was on from 8pm til 9pm tonight. I must admit it was very good indeed, this was about the post war military aircraft, next week it will cover the passenger aircraft. Anyone else see this ? Well worth watching on catch-up..or whatever it's called
