Was that the bit that you linked to in the recent email Dietmar?

No Al, the link was to a piece on local radio.

Just been watching "fighting the blue" on the yesterday channel, its about the Battle of Britain. A good documentary, apart from a scene where Dowding receives the letter telling him hes been sacked. Guess how they spelt the word Marshal!!!

Hi Canberra I watched it this morning & I agree with you it was a good documentary very well portrayed.
Like Bomber Harris those in high places stabbed him in the back & side lined him .
With out his foresight & ingenuity we would have lost the Battle Of Britain & the war .
There's no doubt about it without people like him we would have been overrun by the Nazis .
Regards ,
Bomber .

Shows you how old the documentary is, almost all the pilots they spoke to are now dead.

I can't beleive that no-one has mentioned the programme that was on Channel 5 last night from 9pm til 10.40pm about what the Dambusters did next. I only earlier discovered that it was on  So now I've got to watch it on my computor.
Also just been reading-through a pile of newspaper cuttings given to me yesterday. From early March 2014 one tells of some film recently discovered of Group Captain Leonard Cheshire flying at rooftop height over Limoges, France. This was a aero-engine factory about to be attacked,he flew over it three times in order to give the workers time to escape, which most did.
Perhaps this will soon be shown on the telly ? Or has this already been mentioned on here before somewhere

The Dead got memorials, The living got time.

Allowing for the fact that there is limited film footage available which leads to repetition, there was some bad editing, eg the photo of Lancs flying over snowy mountains, supposedly Norway or Finland en route to the Tirpitz, was in fact the 25/4/45 raid on the Oberslazberg, Tallboy v Grand Slam etc and the 'revelations' were not really as dramatic as was suggested, but a good 90 minutes viewing nonetheless. These veterans really did some remarkable things . . .
