US WWII Supply Depots ETO

Here's a closeup of one of the aerial photos showing the Lisnabreeny camp (NARA 61074AC):



The surviving structures in the adjacent field would appear to be the camp's sewage works.
I would think the camp was originally built to serve the HAA site.

As the full photo shows all 148 crosses in the cemetery, and the HAA site is in the process of being removed, the photo dates from between VE-Day and April 1946.

This is amazing!!

All of you continue to amaze me with what you come up with.

Nothing remains of the HAA Battery and interestingly the picture shows a hut on the same side as the old U.S. Military Cemetry. - This is mentioned in the memorial stone that is at the gate pillare of the entrance to the cemetry.

This hut was used by the personel who maintained the cemetry.

The area where the black huts are is now housing and the path between the gun battery and buildings is raised to such an extent that I had thought there may have been a tunnel below.

The largest remaining building is the one immediately below this pathway.

You can clearly see the circular wall and smaller bricked sections where there remain large barrels. Between these and the buildings in the picture are some buried red bricked buildings which are now in ruins.

The original gate pillars remain.

Opened as Quartermaster Depot Q-102 in August/September 1942, VIII Air Force Service Command, attached to 1 Bomb Division, 8th Air Force.

No location or other info held by AFHRS or NARA.

Er...what's that strange object on the road outside the gate?

I have been trying to positively identify what is referred to as Camp Pinetum.

I found reference to this where a U.S. officer describes it as being near Bangor in County Down.

So far it has been rather frustrating as I have approached various Historical Societies etc but with no success.

Any help would be much appreciated then I can visit and take some piccies to show everyone how it looks now!

I am pleased to say that I can confirm that Pinetum Camp was at what is now Clandeboye Estate.
I am hoping to arrange a visit to see what remains.
As well as the M.T. Depot there was also an HAA position.

Q-108 Great Dunmow.

Its a 'Smart' car Peter..uses a small Mercedes engine and 75MPG

I posted here yesterday but it is not showing (again!).

Thanks; I'm out of touch with most European car models. Thai produced cars are limited in the number of models and imports are fearfully expensive. Cheaper to drive a house!
