Better than my one and only air display trip to Old Warden. At least yo could see something through the rain :)

Yes, I've been to a couple of Old Warden shows like that myself in the past. It's a good job they have so many shows a year.

Thankfully the rain eased off enough last Saturday evening to allow some flying action in the end.

Cheers Martyn. That's a really nice set of photos especially the two shots of 'Dixie'. It's great to see it back in the air after it's prang with the airfield fence a couple of years ago!

Sad to hear that the Sea Vixen was forced to do a gear up landing at Yeovilton yesterday on return from the Duxford Airshow. Pilot is okay -

...& an update from from the Navy Wings website (www.navywings.org.uk/news-blog/sea-vixen-update-27th-may/) -
Following the Sea Vixen’s successful display closing the show at Duxford Air Show, upon her return the Sea Vixen suffered hydraulic problems and the Pilot Cdr Simon Hargreaves performed a highly controlled wheels up landing at RNAS Yeovilton.

Pilot is safe and well. Post accident processes are currently being carried out. Unfortunately the aircraft will not be displaying at Duxford Air Show tomorrow.

Here's a set of photos I took from last weekends Duxford Air Festival. The highlights of the flying display being a very rare UK display of a Noorduyn Norseman ( from the Royal Norwegian Spitfire Foundation), The French Air Force Dassault Rafale & a truly majestic display by the Sea Vixen....

....sigh!!. The Reds have been displaying at Cosford for over 30 years, now they're suddenly unsafe to fly over the runway it would seem.

From the RAF COSFORD AIRSHOW facebook page www.facebook.com/rafcosfordairshowoffici...=nf&hc_ref=NEWSFEED-

Statement from the RAF Cosford Air Show:

Due to recent changes in display flying regulations, the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, and the Royal Air Force Typhoon Display will both be performing their flying displays on an alternative display axis at the RAF Cosford Air Show on Sunday 11th June.
The Royal Air Force has concluded that the nature of the display sequences of both assets combined with restrictions on their Public Display Authorisations, requires their respective displays to be shifted to a new axis. The change in display axis for these two display items will enable them to both perform their full displays to the west of the airfield.
This alternative display axis requires a small section of the A464 to be closed to traffic between the hours of 1.45-2.45pm on Sunday 11th June. A diversion will be signposted.
EDIT - A second statement has since been issued -

RAF Cosford Air Show (Official) We are working with both the RAF Red Arrows & RAF Typhoon Display Team to facilitate their requirements to perform full displays at the Air Show. These changes have only come to light in the past week or so and we are working hard to ensure the displays remain as visible and exciting as possible.
If your going to the show it may be a good idea to bring your binoculars for the Reds & Typhoon displays especially if your at the eastern end of the crowdline!

Excellent shots Rich. You caught both the Hunters start ups very nicely. BBMF Spitfire looks good as well.

USAF B-52 confirmed for Cosford Airshow this Sunday - twitter.com/cosfordairshow :cheer:
