The Daily Record is reporting that the RN have pulled out of the Ayr airshow.

Scottish International Airshow left in crisis just days before it starts at Ayr's Low Green after the Royal Navy pull out

Pity, the Lancaster and Hurricane jets would have been worth seeing. ;)

Organisers also confirmed on Thursday that Lancaster and Hurricane jets are still grounded, and have been forced to withdraw from the lineup.

It would have been good to see them with the "WW2 Sabre jet" :)

Oddly enough I don't recall seeing the little Mig 15 (or is it 17) at airshows but it flew over our house yesterday and we also spotted it a few weekends ago. The airshow in our back garden is quite good. Sally B two weekends running, the Mig, Dragon Rapide, Chipmunk, assorted biplanes and the regular overflights of Spitfire (sometimes 5 on a good day) and this now includes a Hurricane on some occasions. The downside is it is often hours/days before the next aircraft, but its free and no traffic problems.

This is ignoring the Heathrow holding aircraft and the London City Airport traffic which is relentless on some days but non-existent on others.

Great set Martyn, especially photo no.4. That was an EPIC low pass & well caught.

Shame the gusty wind conditions messed with the flying progamme but still a great show as always.

It really did feel like that scene from Empire of the Sun

Im guessing the grounding only affects Rolls-Royce merlins and not Packard (or are they Allison ?) ones.

Tomorrow at Chearsley, our next village along it's their annual car show, with, as usual, a flyover by a Spitfire or Hurricane. This year it was supposed to be both, but due to the recent problems they are having they have both been cancelled :( Instead we are getting the Lancaster... well hopefully, depending on this rubbish weather that we're getting right now.

Coolings Garden Centre a few miles from us has an annual Spitfire display overhead. Biggin Hill is not far away.

We arrived at the Car show about 12.15pm, loads of old cars on display, very dark low clouds were also on display, after about 10 minutes the PA announced that due to the windy / wet weather ( It had just started raining) the Lancaster will not be attending  so back home to our Club for a few beers.:) ... well what else could we do...?
