I wonder if Fairford will be the only RAF airshow??? After all the Army only have the Edinburgh tattoo, thae days of all their garrisons having a tattoo. As for manpower, if Waddington had ove a thousand personnel working on the display, thats getting on for one thirtieth of the RAFs regular manpower.

Cosford will be the last remaining RAF airshow if we do lose Waddington. RIAT at Fairford isn't organised by the RAF.
Message from the Station Commander RAF Waddington:
The RAF Waddington International Air Show is a unique opportunity for the Station to engage with our visitors to showcase the work, people and capability of the RAF and its partner organisations. I am immensely proud of the effort Station personnel have contribute to this year’s Air Show both in the months leading up to the event and on the day.
It is very much regretted that due to essential work due to be undertaken to refurbish the runway at RAF Waddington, the Station will be unable to put on an Air Show next year (2015). Due to this work and the movement of the RAF from our other air show location (RAF Leuchars in Scotland), the RAF has decided to complete a full review of its air show commitments; the results of the review will be announced in due course.
Thank you for your support.

Just in case anybody wasn't aware this years Sywell Airshow is SOLD OUT. They'll be no 'on the gate' tickets either. Hardly a surprise as it's always a great show.
Just a heads up about the two Lancaster's and their attendance at the Clacton on sea air show here in North Essex.
Some weeks ago I asked the BBMF if they'd consider flying over the Lancaster Crew Memorial we unveiled 25.04.2013 on Ipswich Road Colchester on their way to Clacton.
It looks very favourable that this will now happen on the Thursday only.
This will depend on my receiving a phone call from the BBMF the day before or on that actual morning. So nothing is definite but since I received a vey upbeat phone call on Monday 11th August just passed from the BBMF the odds are in our favour.
Prior to coming to this area the two Lancaster's will be going over RAF Marham and RAF Wattisham. After that hopefully they will divert to the memorial on Ipswich Road before heading onto Clacton.
IF this happens it will be take place on THURSDAY 21st August at 14.55 hours.
All that is planned is for the two aircraft to pass over the memorial and then move onto Clacton. So it may well be a bit like the 'Tour De France,' all over in seconds. However, if for any reason their slot at Clacton is behind schedule they will circle the memorial / Ipswich Rd / Ardleigh Crown area whilst they wait.
Obviously the best place to be is at the Clacton show itself, but this may give people who can't get there a chance to see the two magnificent bombers.
For those real aviation enthusiasts on here, it may also be of interest for them to know that the Lancaster's will be parked up at Southend airport overnight on the Thursday night ready for Fridays Clacton show.
Gutted that the Lancs were a no-show today. Got to find somewhere else to see them. The Reds were fantastic as usual though. If my pics are any good I'll post them up.
