Well well well, this does bring back memories 2 shillings from Woolworths that was when I was into Plastic kits this must have been in the mid to late fifites.
But I spoiled it by painting it with gloss paint!
Gents, I know its not a watch office or tower and I know the colours are not very accurate but its a great illustration of the variation of colours used.

Could you put a date to that photo knowing when that particular aircraft was operational ??
Due to some confusion over the exact serial number of this aircraft the closest I can say at the moment is that it's likely to be sometime in late 1943/early 44.
This is a useful thread as sometime this year I'm thinking of dusting off the modelling kit and getting started again. As for towers, apart from Expansion Period ones (and as has already been stated earlier up the thread), most towers seem to be just concrete render grey! One thougt did cross my mind though - surely if these buildings were camouflaged extensively, then there must be some traces left? I know it was just a cheap wash of paint (water soluble?) but surely something must remain on TBC structures (note - must look more closely!). There are plenty of examples of camouflage traces on permanent brick buildings so no need to list examples.
Paul, I'd be interested in any info you might have on the subject. If I can get them half-right, I'll be happy. If you have anything or suggestions, drop me an e-mail.
Mable - what thickness plastikard do you suggest for scratch-builds? I can feel a bulk orgder from Slaters approaching rapidly!
Cheers,
Chris
"We either stand down or blow up - which do you want!"
I use 40thou. for my buildings
Evident of camo paint was seen by me at a couple of locations and have to say it was .... black.
This was 'behind the building ie not in sun!
I'm still waiting on Paul to produce documentation as to the colours used and the photo in #22 shows something of a colour or two ?
you might have a long wait as i have just looked through well ovwer 2000 drawings and i cannot find it. However I can get another copy, though it will be a photocopy whereas the other one I had was an original.
You can tell a builder from an archaeologist by the size of his trowel. Mine is a small one!
