I had looked in the 'Profile'... but, being thick, I didn't spot the "edit" button in the corner!
I also like the "Thanks" button addition. I am a member of another forum (not RAF or airfield orientated!) that has that facility and it is a nice, quick and easy way to express thanks to other people.
Don't worry, I didn't see it either initially, it's not the most obvious button and things need to be obvious for me as Chris Lowe will tell you! I too liked the thank you feature, however we have switched off the Karma button, I really can't see the point of those (they allow you to give someone the thumbs down)!
Whilst Googling a few days ago I noticed that any link found referring to an AiX thread immediately generated a 404 error - not surprisingly.
Yesterday I couldn't find any Google links to AiX which suggests that all these erroneous links have been purged (prompt work Google). No doubt some webcrawler will start exploring the new forum in the near future and generate meaningful links.
The bad news is that all the internal links which I and many others have created over the years are now broken. (E.g. ...see thread xxxxxxxxx).
I compared a few old links with the new ones in the hope that possibly a script could be written to update the old ones, but I don't think it's an easy matter at all.
Shame really as we all hate clicking a potentially useful link on any website only to result in a 404, and there is a huge amount of this on the web.
Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite
You're right Carnaby and this was discussed on the old forum when we were discussing the migration to the new forum. It wasn't possible to modify and migrate the internal forum links I'm afraid as each forum does its linking differently apparently. Just like it wasn't possible to migrate things like PMs.
The only things we did manage to convert were the attached photo references which was a simple find and replace.
With regard to the web crawlers, the've been busy since well before we went live!

The big problem will be those hard copy links in various PDF reports and books.
Slightly off topic, but is the a way to purge any bookmarks that are now dead? I have hundreds in various folders and I suspect 50% are no longer valid as many are quite old.
No Amount Of Evidence Will Ever Persuade An Idiot (probably not Mark Twain)

Both website addresses are in hard copy and pdf although mostly should be the main home page address in which case they will go to the new home page.
There doesn't seem to be any dates on the posts, or have I missed it?
I like the post numbers, much better
If you are viewing on your mobile you won't see dates, if from your desktop the dates are alongside the post name.
Regarding post numbering, they may look better, but unless we use Real ID numbers they are no good for referencing as they change depending on wether a user is set first post first or first post last.
If anyone wants to reference a post they should copy the URL from the post number and paste that as they reference. It will then hyperlink directly to the reference post.

There are plugins for all the major browsers that will do this for you. Either install and run once to get rid of the deadwood or else leave active and they will monitor your bookmarks periodically and alert you if there are problems with any.
