Welcome to the forum. By the time I went to see Wethersfield, all flying had stopped.

PNK
I was fortunate to see F100s and T33s at Wethersfield. I know that I saw a lot more than that ( I am 99% sure I once saw an F104, but I didn't really take it all in. My old man had been at Schilling AFB (Salina, Kansas) prior to that and at the end of his time at Wethersfield, he went to Edwards AFB in California. Yep - I am one of the lucky ones to see the XB70, X15, YF12, SR71 etc in flight. I am no expert though and only have fond memories of a time gone by.

Hello, all. I have a full size flying Sopwith F.1 Camel replica (N1845D - ship 1845D, 208 Sqn) and have just bought enough Ohio farmland outside Dayton for a small airstrip (1600x300). Since I was planning to build a small wooden hangar, I thought perhaps it would not be that much more to have a replica WW1 hangar as well. So after scouring the internet, I found the AIX and the Moreton 1/2 Twin shed. Looking through the well done "Hangar Types for Dummies" primer, found out how wonderful AIX really is.
This place is the one terrific source of information and discussion on airfield building types. Hope to get to meet some of you.
Best

Russ,
You can meet me easily, because I live in Kettering, just south of Dayton. I'd love to help out with your hangar project.

This is good. I will be up there in a week or so. The land is out by Jamestown. I'll PM you when I have solid travel plans. Trying now to identify a some smaller hangar types that I may can afford. Right now that is 1/2 of a Twin Shed (See thread in General Airfield). Will talk soon!

Hello to all ( and a Happy New Year !! ),

I was asked to identify this tag.

It apparently belonged to an Australian man, whose family say, it was his wife's. She served as some type of 'air raid warden' ( from the description given ).

However, it doesn't seem to be an Australian item ...

The '466898' number is listed on the Australian Nominal Roll ( WW II ) as attributed to a male soldier ( not the husband ) and the family have never heard of him either ...

I came across your website here whilst 'surfing' the web.

Thanks for any assistance ...

regards,
Gordon Blair
