Peterborough now has a new memorial in Bridge Street near the town hall. There had been a memorial installed on Bridge Street in the 80's a monolithic affair since removed. I enquired at the tourist information office where it had been moved to, a look of bewilderment descended on the lady behind the desk, ask at the town hall she said. A similar response there until a passing member of staff said, oh it's in the Catherderal grounds. So the pictures from last year may be of the 80's memorial. If they are then the memorial has been drastically remodeled, can anyone shed any light on this?

This village War Memorial is opposite the Crown Pub that had the trouble with the US Army coloured troops in 1944. The Landlady was killed, plus two others.
