At the base of the last two photographs within the Church does anyone know what; O & B LT 1.
RFA means ?

Many thanks Dave. Strange how the Second War is also called: The Great War. On our Church memorial. Did you know the Searle family (As in above thread) who owned the Bakers shop in Burts Lane.

I believe there were two shops in Burts Lane during my school days and David Blaine had been in our year ? ( Grocery shop on the corner with Chearsley Road ~ Mrs Cox the school teacher had lived on the opposite corner ~ Ronald Markham lived further down opposite the bakery ? )

While working in America I used to visit a place called Eagle Wisconsin that had been a railroad stop on what had become an abandoned railway.

In conversation with one of the old timers he told me that he had gone to visit a place called Eagle while he was in England.

Apparently it was something to do with RAF Bomb Disposal ( Petertheater may know ? ) and it also had an old railway station.

When I came back to England for a long weekend I happen to mentioned this while in the Eight Bells and some one said they thought it was near to the crash site ?

I went back to work and forgot all about it until I read your thread yesterday ~ In my Bells time Stanley had been the vicar ?

A couple of years ago I posted-up a photograph of the small plaque seen near the windows, can't find it now, today was the first time back since then. I saw this in South lane earlier.
