Ever wondered what your road or area looked like 50 or 100 years ago? Historic England is launching an aerial photography tool that allows users to explore images of England over the past century.
The bird’s eye views range from second world war defences and nuclear power stations to the remains of neolithic monuments, Roman farmsteads and medieval villages.
More than 400,000 photographs from 1919 to the present day, covering 30% of England, will be available to search and view online for the first time.

Brilliant, That is what I thought they were releasing when the historic sites map was released. I wonder if the aerial photo part was delayed?
Let's hope they add to it as Scotland and Wales both have reasonable coverage in historic photos.
Now to see which bombing ranges they just miss
No Amount Of Evidence Will Ever Persuade An Idiot (probably not Mark Twain)
A number of ranges are covered and most seem to be frames I already have. Oddly the two Millom range obliques online are the only two I ever ordered from that sortie - are they following me?

I am not sure, but it seems there are images today where there were not yesterday. I don't recall coverage of Otmoor yesterday but there is loads now - all the ones I ordered copies of!
Also noted that there is a an arrow to tab through multiple frame layers when you select the first frame (e.g. 1 of 11) .

On 22 Mar you mentioned potential images just missing bombing ranges. Correct! You can get to see the arrow on Lea Marsh range, on the Trent just S of Gainsborough, but not the rest of it.
