Maybe the BBC will show 'The Black and White Minstrel Show' or 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' sometime; they seem very keen on showing repeats especially at Christmas.
I saw a shot of Windsor Davies and Don Estelle on telly last night but it was only a static shot; I don't think they'd dare show a moving sequence.

I was watching recently Lenny Henry talking about 'The Black and White Minstrel Show' which gave him his break into TV but it was all negative from him. Yet there are numerous black and asian 'entertainers' who straighten their hair, adopt Western clothes and sometimes even lighten their skin colour but they are not accused of 'cultural appropriation'.
Similarly 'It Ain't Half Hot Mum' gave work to many Indian actors but there were not many experienced and well known ones in the UK so Michael Bates was cast as an Indian which brings most of the complaints even though he was born in India with an Anglo-Indian father, served in the Indian Army and spoke fluent Urdu. In the programme he was not "blacked up" as often claimed.
Double standards as always.
