The sound of a milk float always reminded me of that episode :)

I was an extra on some production that was filmed at Boxted, Essex, on July 25th 2005. At least, if Boxted was occupied by USAAF medium bombers in WW2 (Martin Marauders??), that's where I think it was. The current strip is quite small & used by private flyers. There was a club/cafeteria building that was where the 'action' took place, - but I'm blowed if I can remember what the subject of the action was. Must be me age..... Of the old, & much bigger airfield, only some of the concrete runway & taxiways still existed.

Hi there

Just been watching the old James Bond film "Thunderball" about a group of baddies who hijack a Vulcan bomber and make off with its Nuclear bombs.

Well, there's a scene of a group of airmen arriving at an RAF base and as they pull up to the guardroom the guard is checking their passes, which is followed by a scene of some vulcans parked on along the runway and them taking off in one.

Any ideas where these scenes were filmed?

Was any of it at Scampton by any chance?

Just curious and a cursory google search has failed to yield any results.

Best Wishes
SimonT

As Bonds tend to be filmed at Pinewood my guess is the guardroom is Northolt as its very near. And the Vulcan film is RAF stock film, so yes its probably Scampton.

Saw it a few weeks ago. They must have had different engines installed for the film. I think they were from Thunderbird 2 :)
