I heard on Radio Two yesterday that Brad Pitt was currently in Glasgow filming 'World War Z', which reminded me that I had heard down the rumour grapevine a few weeks ago that the production is scheduled to move south and use two military airfields soon for filming - anyone else heard this?

Just as well, he's too young for WW2!

They have been filming in Falmouth docks, so that opens a few Cornish possibilities. Predannack, maybe?

Looking at the aerial view on your link Carnaby, I think this could be it.

Thanks, TOB.

I think this is DEFINATELY the Picketston site in Barry.

maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Picketston,+Bar...p=12,277.35,,2,-2.28"

This link show the hangar viewed from a nearby board and looks identical to the photo of the site shown pinned to a notice board at the beginning of the episode.

Regards,

Phil.

Re. World War Zombie - I heard an alleged story that they were originally going to use Wittering for one action scene, but as the film crew now want to fly in a larger aircraft than originally anticipated, the suggestion is that they are now going to use a US base (possibly Upper Heyford) instead.

Well Heyford and Wittering have runways of a similar length, I suspect having the A1 near Wittering means its too public an area thats why theyre using Heyford.

Was it filmed at Squires Gate? I remember seeing a DC3 with Ruskin on the side at the airshow in 81 but AFAIK the series was filmed at Rufforth.

True, no doubt that was a contributing factor Canberra, but I did hear a tale that the 'official' reason the film crew declined Wittering in the end was over their last minute change of aircraft and for one scene they want it to be inside a hangar - whatever aircraft it is, apparently the wingspan was too wide for Wittering's hangars and as such the MoD has lost out on its fee!!!

But, who knows what the truth is - it might be something completely different!
