That is yet more terrible news...what is happening this year? Seems that airshows are jinxed. May the Pilot rest in peace.

Plan A is always more effective when the problem you are working on understands that Plan B will involve the use of dynamite

People seem to think there is something funny about birdstrikes. Birds are a real menace to aircraft and they always will be.

As birds were here before aircraft they probably think the same thing. :-D

Canberra, birdstrikes have caused many fatal crashes,. I clearly remeber watching the REDS running in to the final ceremony for the 2000 Open at St Andrews, as they screamed along the Strathkinness ridge one took a bird, he peeled off and made a fantastic landing, They had been operating from ASP 3, in front of hangers 55 & 56 , I jumped into the car and got to my office( that used to be in the now long gone hut in front of Hg 56) as he was towed onto the ASP. A lesser pilot would have pointed her to sea and banged out.

Ted IIRC that was in fact 1990, there was a bit of flak flying over that one which I wont go in to here. And on the subject of fatal birdstrikes I remember the Nimrod in 1980.
