Do we know why the police helicopter just had to be "tasked" over North Weald a few minutes before 558 arrived to just a few moments until after she left?
Seemed odd to me to have it hover so close to a very large aircraft that is known to turn tightly or pull up steeply.
It must have been tasked by the police as I doubt it would have gone down well if the crew had gone on a Jolly.
If I was cynical I could think that it was put there to get in the way.........................

If youve ever read Sharkey Wards book youd know what Im on about. If you havent, then basically he and quite a few other members of the Royal Navy are very anti to the Vulcan raids on the Falklands.

Ah! Now I understand, your original comment was a bit obscure without that reference! They certainly felt they could have done a more cost effective job with the SHARs. And anyway, the Navy would have done a better job anyway purely because they are the more professional service
