558 returned to her former home at Bruntingthorpe for one very last time today during her Farewell Tour. We where treated to two beautiful passes including a big Howl goodbye to the airfield & her old V force sister -

I haven't seen Brunty so packed with people since the Big Thunder Air Shows back in the 90's.It was absolutely rammed......all this for just one aircraft......but what an aircraft!!

It did three and a half circuits over Newark Air Museum, and one wingover, before being joined by a Jet Provost (?), and flying off to the North.

A mini display!! The benefits of being the last venue on the tour eh? She was joined by the JP for an air to air photo sortie.

I'll leave the close-up for the guys that took some. I didn't as I wanted to see the Vulcan in real life and not through the view finder!

This was on the south bank of the Thames opposite Tilbury and the Vulcan was easily spotted by the dirty smoke trail (ringed). It was headin SSE and then banked over the river just up from Gravesend prom and followed the Thames before scooting off over land to Cliffe.

The police stopped the Vulcan flying at Southend, so we got her instead! A very busy day for visitors, but it was certainly worth it and we got a great many favourable comments. Saturday we had more movements – around 320 for the day, so almost 600 for the weekend. A lot of aircraft were turned away as they left their PPR too late!
