Given that vintage gets are now confined to flybys, and the Vulcan is clearly a vintage jet, are we to have its last few sorties of its flying career limited to low speed passes?
I'm not aware that this formation has ever been done before, and it will never happen again. Today, 27 August 2015 at RAF Lakenheath, a very special afternoon.

An interesting comparison of one vulcan vs Three F15.
One Vulcan: weight empty 37144Kg, Thrust 44'000 lb

A shame, but understandable.
They're not permitted to perform aerobatic & high energy maneuvers at present, as you say just flypasses however the Vulcan doesn't perform those sort of displays anyway -
Operations Director and Chief Pilot of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, Martin Withers, has spoken to his contacts at the CAA, and has released this statement:
“I am pleased to report that I have received assurances from our contacts at the CAA that XH558's 2015 display routine is not classified as aerobatic, and so consequently, we are hoping to continue to fly on through XH558's last season with minimal changes to our display."
Brilliant photos Mr. Flagg, Oh & thanks for the smug texts & updates during that day knowing full well that I was missing it all & stuck at work
The media reports that they had a front undercarriage problem yesterday, eventually got it down but emergency services stood by as they landed at Prestwick.

That happened on Saturday. Yesterday it departed Prestwick & returned to Doncaster safely. Apparently it's not a major job & can be sorted before the next display appearance. Serviceability issues have become pretty rare in recent years.
There where some well known faces speaking at yesterday VTTS Club event at Coventry from the Black Buck Raids including Martin Withers (obviously), Bob Tuxford, Alistair Montgomery, John Reeve, Barry Masefield & others. It was a great day including some nice displays including Meteor & Venom & finished with a very Howling '558 display -
