If you study the maps, you will see various waypoints and turning points that XH558 might visit. We would stress that there is no guarantee of these away from the designated V-Force sites, as weather or ATC instructions may cause the crew to choose alternative routes. Here is a quick list of the added possibilities that you may like to consider.
Saturday:
Scarborough – for Armed Forces Day celebrations.
Whitby – coastal route.
Lake Windermere – transit route from Carlisle to Manchester area.
Barton Aerodrome – turning point ahead of Manchester airspace.
Manchester Airport – potential fly through.
*(subject to operational clearance)
Sunday:
Newark – transit overhead.
Cottesmore – transit overhead.
Silverstone Race Circuit – transit overhead.
Leavesden – transit overhead enroute Hendon.
Metheringham Airfield – transit overhead.
Cleethorpes – Armed Forces Day celebrations.

I think it's fair to say that this weekends V-Force Tour has been a huge success. The Police stated that 15,000 turned up on the perimeter of Woodford to see her. The roads around EMA where packed on Saturday as was the Aero Park see pic below -

Bruntingthorpe was packed with a big crowd as well today despite the grim weather. The two Brunty V-Bomber sisters re-unite for one last time:cry: -

I followed that link Steve and nearly fell off the chair when I read that some people "hate" XH558 and VTTS.......... Seriously?

Today is the 55th anniversary of '558 being delivered to the RAF (courtesy of the VTTS newsletter).

XH558 on her delivery flight from Woodford to RAF Waddington – taken on 1st July 1960 – 55 years ago today. You can see that when the picture was taken, the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) was deployed - visible just underneath the port intake.

Several weeks ago we acknowledged the first flight of XH558, (what we termed her actual 55th Birthday), as she began a series of air-tests to prove all her systems were working. On Friday 1st July 1960, Tony Blackman climbed into the cockpit and began a flight that is recorded as lasting 1hour and 40 minutes, during which the RAF conducted an air-to-air photography sortie that resulted in the above picture. XH558 was the first Vulcan B Mk.2 to enter service, joining B flight of 230 Operational Conversion Unit. In a similar fashion to the existing B Mk.1s operating with A flight, 230 OCU, the City of Lincoln coat of arms was then applied to her tail fin. It is still there to this day, although of course, XH558 has been repainted several times since! Even though XH558 is now based at another of the V-Force's former bases of RAF Finningley in Yorkshire, we have no plans to ever remove these original markings.

For those in Yorkshire, here is a picture of XH558 a little later in June 1961, clearly showing the Yorkshire Rose on the tail, when 230 OCU moved to operate from RAF Finningley, now of course, Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield.

Vulcan photobombs Scarborough couple’s wedding

Pictured - Jonny Smith on his wedding day, getting photo bombed by the Vulcan.

These amazing pictures show the startling moment a Vulcan Bomber PHOTOBOMBED a wedding. The Cold-War icon upstaged the bride for just a moment as the distinctive aeroplane - one of the greatest achievements of British aerospace engineering - flew past iconic Scarborough Spa during one of the final tours of the skies of Britain before it is grounded forever. The Vulcan XH558 was on a Salute the V Force Tour on Saturday when it flew over Jonny and Emily Smith's ceremony at 1.23pm.

The legendary Cold-War plane upstaged bride Emily Smith on one of its last-ever flights.
The Vulcan XH558 was on a Salute the V Force Tour last Saturday - Armed Forces Day - when it roared over Emily’s open-air wedding to groom Jonny.

A hundred guests saw the flypast just as Emily, 29, was about to walk down the aisle at the Scarborough Spa.

GP Emily said: “I’m pleased to say the plane flew over as my bridesmaids walked down the aisle.
“It disappeared and then came back as I stepped on to the altar, so I did get some of the attention.
“Everybody was laughing at what we were seeing. It flew right through Scarborough Bay, it was pretty spectacular.”
Town planner Jonny, 30, said: “The registrar told us in the morning that the Vulcan would be flying over. We feel very very lucky to have had that at our wedding“Luckily it was all at the beginning of the ceremony so it didn’t affect anything. It was very loud.
“It flew overhead, it was pretty impressive. Not everyone can say they’ve had a flypast at their wedding.
“It became a special feature of our wedding, everybody was talking about it all day and I’m sure it will be something that nobody will forget.”
Emily and Jonny grew up in Scarborough but now live in Birmingham.
The trustees of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust, the charity that kept the Vulcan airborne, announced this year would be the final flying season for the Vulcan XH558 which saw active service between 1960-1984.
The decision came after three crucial engineering backers decided to end their support for the aircraft and CAA regulations meant it could not be flown past 2015.
