Hi Stevie, What a lovely shot that is ! We were also there, but the 50 odd photographs that I took are not very good...as usual !! My mate took, would you believe 3676 photographs  his camera sounded like a machine gun.
I have a similar shot to yours, but not as clear. I did though manage to capture the final flypast on movie which we can watch on my computer  very good too for ten seconds. Though how to post that up on here I don't have a clue. Here's a few that I took...

Flippin' Eck Paul, Pic 3 is great!! :D

I do love that fighter-like take off that they perform nowadays.

Saturdays take off at RIAT was the best yet. I love the way she appears from behind the VIP tents in this clip -

Also from Saturdays now legendary display flown by the great Kev Rumans, now that IS inverted  -

That last clip confirms what I thought on Saturday, that was ALMOST a loop! (sort of, half loop anyway)
Loved the way she just seemed to keep going up and up.

Brilliant

Seeing those images of the reds in formation reminded me that I saw a scheme somewhere that Avro had briefly proposed to mount four Gnats under the wings of the Vulcan to take along and be released to provide fighter support. Clearly a suicide mission for the Gnat pilots, not surprisingly the proposal never went further than initial sketches.
