WHAT AERODROME QUIZ - Vol 1

A bit of generalisation re N-S. It is 17/35 I mean (too lazy to check). Aldergrove was relaid mid war, originally having four runways, although the short one is not recorded as being in use. On the modern aerials you can see the remains of the 18 end down to the little track that crosses 17/35 about halfway down. The little track is the old peri track. It looks as though the new runway was moved to the left to give better clearance from the hangars. Aldergove is one of those I would like to draw as before and after so if I ever get around to it I will post it.

Yes the current ones replaced all four, although you may argue that 2 were realignments but it amounts to the same thing. Don't forget heading would have changed anyway due to the normal shift in magnetic north.
Perhaps this discussion should be moved to the relevant geographic thread?

Anyone had a look at the last photo by the way?

In Yorkshire and it was involved in aircraft manufacture.
