Airfield modelling (Airfix / Hornby / Lego etc)

Generic tower interiors could be scratch-built I suppose. There are enough tower museums around to acquire photographic reference and I'm sure a dig through the books would reveal other details. It's up to the modeller as to what level of detail (and indeed scale) they build to.

I'll probably start with something simple!

The Old Airfix kit, As is stated. Its an old kit rehash and I seem to remember it retailing for 2/0 Shillings old money about 1957-1959. So whats new?

I've built a couple of these Airfix Towers years ago, and in my ignorance I thought they were quite good lol, still I won't embarress myself anymore . . . (won't mention I was about to buy another !).

I intend building a few little airfield / aircraft dioramas, once I've finished my current project.

Also, a bit of a pipe dream, but I'd love to build a WW2 airfield complete ! Looking at 1/300th scale as wargamming vehicles, figures & aircraft are readily available (close to an architects model concept). I'd really like it based on a USAF base in suffolk & then donate it to the preservation society there, but it's just a dream at the moment. Although now I've found this site & the info within, it's nearer a possibilty !

I like the Mission Models buildings , big scale though ! I like small, less detail to worry about ! mind you, it's taken me two months to do my WW1 artillery carriage diorama and still not finished !!

After some thinking i decided to post these few shots of what i discovered on arriving home from work tonight, my son has Ausperges syndrome which gives him an acute sence of detail and loves to build things, from a visit to Llandow and the screensaver on the pc he came up with this!!! to say the least i was more than impressed......
