Accurate Nissen huts, air-raid shelters, TB huts, fighter pens and a 12779/41 watch office all available. Also bomb trollies, torpedo trollies, modern aircraft apu and other trolly operated acessories.

and was instantly transported back to childhood.
I had always known that Airfix did the Control Tower, as it was listed on the back of the complaints slip that used to be issued with kits back then. As far as I can make out, it was originally issued about 1960 but must have been a very poor seller, as I never saw a copy for sale despite doing my best to work my way through their entire collection and wanting one. Then one day in 1968, my local hobby shop had one on display, still with the original artwork and looking old fashioned even then as the rest of the range had progressed to full colour headers or boxes.
Alas I couldn't afford it and by the time I could, it had gone.
Sometime about 1977 I think, Airfix reissued it in a box. I still have it somewhere, (started but unfinished!) so when I espied this example, at the Nationals about 15 years ago, it was my chance.
Thats the best thing about being an adult - reliving ones childhood!
I've got one in a box somewhere. I wonder which tower it was based on? I heard via a contact that a high-up in Airfix had designed it and ignored any criticism! I once built a wartime tower out of Lego and it looked quite convincing, although my young son was not impressed.
