Thanks Paul. Will bear that in mind. At least they will be well looked after. I have always maintained that any photo is a priceless gem.

Hello all, I found this site in the past couple of days as I am in the process of trying to do some research for my Father in Law (see my thread under the RDF/Radar Sites heading). I am a bit of a Military history buff, especially RAF, so I find this sort of site very interesting and informative!

Hi, new here. I am an ex RAF engineer living in Lossiemouth and working at Inverness airport. I have found as I age I am more interested in the history of the airbases near me, even Dalcross was once an airbase I have now found. Also there are so many old bases along the Moray Coast, part of the "Banff Fighter Wing", Forress was a Whitley station. I am looking forward to dicovering more.

Welcome to the forum. That coastline is a treasure trove of WW2 remains and includes a few bombing ranges as well. Even Banff and Dallachy became bombing targets post-war for FAA camera guns with both having large white concentric circles marked on the runway intersection. I've not seen photographic proof yet but hopefully soon!

As you live in the area you don't know of a Honeychurch Moor in the area? 19OTU at Forres reported a crash there but although I have seen a separate written record of it I have found no location or anything close. The only one that crops up is in Devon but that is hardly local.
