Welcome to the forum. I have been studying bombing ranges for a few years now but luckily I am still finding new information. Which ranges are you familiar with?
No Amount Of Evidence Will Ever Persuade An Idiot (probably not Mark Twain)
Hi,
I'm trying to find any reference to personal working in the Norton Radstock area during 1944, possible at a local airbase as a chef.
Any ideas and suggestions for location welcomed.
Sally
Norton Radstock is and old name no longer used. The two adjacent places are now Midsomer Norton and Radstock about 8 miles southwest of Bath. Is this the location you are referring to?

Yes, I'm looking for any link to where a Free French Algerian could have been working in 1944. We think on one of the air bases in this area, possibly Merryfield. He was a chef and might have been working for USA Air Force.
Mmmm.....tricky. The United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) and US Army (military) were at Merryfield and Upottery in 1944 lining up for the invasion. The US Navy (aircraft) were at Dunkeswell but they usually had their own enlisted catering staff and, I suspect, the person that you are seeking would have been a civilian?
