Hello,

Apart from the control tower book (title will be Along the Control Tower) we are also preparing a book (title Broken Dreams) about the unfortunate C-47 that perished during transport to a musical site in Holland. Damaged byond repair. The story will be told by the plane itself.
"Broken Dreams is the remarkable life story of a unique airplane that was supposed to be used for a musical in the Netherlands. But everything turned out quite different than planned. On Friday the thirteenth, August 2010, this particular Dakota was involved in a terrible accident while being transported on the road. This incident, plus many more, will be used to tell the story of this plane – from the plane’s perspective - which will lead her to reflect upon her life and the part she played in history.
If it was a film script you couldn’t write any more action into it, which just goes to show that sometimes life is indeed stranger than fiction. The book will include interviews with people who were familiar with the plane; Rosie the Riveters, the first Air France stewardess, a mechanic, a pilot, a navigator, etc.

A special element of this story is its perspective, because this will all be told as if the plane herself is the one telling her life story. By now she is a fragile elderly lady. Plane lovers will confirm this; a plane is always referred to as being female and especially a Dakota, which is elegant and stylish. This American ‘grand old lady’ will tell her story as if she is a real human being, with emotions, feelings, frustrations, ideas, desires, etc. She is used as a metaphor for a human life from her ‘birth’ (construction in America) to her ‘near death experience’ (the accident) to the moment of her ‘resurrection’ (transformation into a DC-3 simulator).

Beside her life story, which will form the main element of the book, ‘facts’ (interesting factual information), ‘quotes’ and ‘photographs’ will be added as well.

A documentary is also being made, which can complement the book and vice versa. A trailer of the documentary can be seen via: www.vofprodukties.tv/default.asp?pageID=10&lang=eng"
