Steeple Langford


This memorial is in the porch of Steeple Langford's church. Wilts. Photographs taken today. Supposed to be a plaque to a WW2 Pilot within the church....nothing to be found.
The Dead got memorials, The living got time.

I did a double take on the Concord memorial when I saw someone with VC after their name, it means Vetinary Corps and not Victoria Cross!

I was going to put a picture on of the war memorial in Arkholme near Lancaster, but it hasnt got one. Arkholme is one of the "thankful villages", it sent 59 men off to wwi and all returned.

Canberra, your comments about "thankful villages" reminded me of Herodsfoot in Cornwall which calls itself a fortunate village as those who went to serve in BOTH world wars came back, but they still built a memorial to show their gratitude for those who served. Here's some pics...
