Thats a bit outdated. My mate has been working on her today, they had a fuel line problem, but he text me 3 hours ago and she takes off at 11:00 hrs tomorrow.
You heard it here first!!!
There was a 3 hour delay but it was well worth the wait when she finally powered down Bruntys runway. She gave us a lovely slow flypast with the gear down as well and looked great when she banked away and we all got a great view of the delta shape against the blue skies.
Amazingly a couple of hours later whilst i was having a look over Polebrook airfield i saw her again flying south. Twice in one day. Brilliant
It was the end of an era today at Bruntingthorpe as the Vulcan took off from the airfield for the last time after living here for 16 years following her retirement from the RAF. She flew off to perform some flight tests and then on to her temporary new home for the display season at Brize Norton.
So heres some shots i took this afternoon.
Sorry the pics aren't brilliant. Lets face it they wouldn't exactly make the pages of Flypast as it's a nightmare trying to photograph moving objects with no zoom on my camera!
Here they are never the less -
Nice long shot here (not that i had a choice ha ha) as she climbed out -
and she gave us one final flypast -
At least we've still got the other V- bomber at Brunty -
Any Vulcan fans that were not at Wellesbourne today really did miss out on a treat! Two vulcans in action at the same time. '655 taxing and '558 thundering above for three passes followed by an awesome full power climb right over '655. The reds also flew past her earlier with the smoke on whilst she powered down the runway. What a day!!!!
More pics in the Wellesbourne thread in the Warwickshire part of the Wales/West Mids section!
ok here we go. She is NOT flying today and tomorrow looks highly unlikely. There was a hydrolic leak on engine 2 but that is sorted. It has NO permit to fly. I think there will be 250,000 SERIOUSLY P**SED off people at Waddo giving the TVOC team serious grief. It's not their fault, all the technicians and stuff are great but time for a lynching of management.
People gave literally £millions over the last few years and were let down at Waddo last year on the second day by a glitch. Fair enough. However there was a final, final, final desperate appeal for more money, £1 million in 5 days to be precise. Now a 1/4 of a million people are turning up today hoping to finally see her fly, and a cock up by Dr Phleming et al has grounded her.
If I was Dr Phleming I would avoid Waddo at all costs personally. I hope this doesn't affect people going to future Waddo shows.
Worse thing is that they kept is quiet but they knew last night it wasn't going t fly today. People are going to turn up to find there is no Vulcan flying today and the Vulcan management were aware and could have made an announcement yeasterday.
The next time there is a public appeal for money cos of more mismanagement I feel there may be a few words ending in OFF exchanged.
