Did it fly at Biggin Hill last week? I saw most other participants fly over my house over that weekend.

i POSTED ON THE tvoc FORUM AND HERE IS THE MODERATORS PRIVATE MESSSAGE TO ME::

I realise you are very angry at the latest news, as are many people. However it is a rule of this forum that no personal attacks are made on other people. Please can you remove your comments about a moderator from your thread on permit to fly. Personal comments like that would not be accepted made about anyone on this forum.

There will be a statement realised this morning but I know talks were continuing until late into the night. Also for info the Vulcan Village is staffed completely by Club volunteers not Vulcan to the Sky Trust and believe me they are all totally gutted.

Thanks

Sarah

Here's the copout for their dishonesty:

Vulcan Display at RAF Waddington Cancelled

Joint Statement by Vulcan to the Sky Trust and Marshalls Aerospace

The Vulcan to the Sky Trust (VTST) and Marshalls Aerospace are deeply disappointed and saddened to have to announce that the planned display of the Vulcan at RAF Waddington International Airshow on 4th and 5th July 2009 has had to be cancelled.
As part of the 2005 to 2007 major servicing, a number of structural inspections had to be deferred, because it was not feasible to complete them on XH558’s airframe. It was planned by VTST and Marshalls Aerospace in agreement with BAe Systems and the Civil Aviation Authority, that these inspections would be carried out before the renewal of XH558’s Permit to Fly on 3rd July 2009, using the airframe of BAe Systems-owned Vulcan XM603 at Woodford, as part of the scrapping process of this aircraft. Unfortunately despite this intention, it has not yet proved possible to complete or establish mitigations for all these investigations. Consequently we have currently not fully met the conditions that would enable the issue of XH558’s Permit to Fly renewal.
XH558 is however fully serviceable and ready for flight, and Marshalls Aerospace together with VTST and BAe Systems are doing all they can as quickly as they can to resolve this unexpected, one-off, issue within the next few days. We are very sad that it is not going to be possible for the Vulcan to display at Waddington over the weekend of 4th and 5th July.

It's dissapointing enough when the aircraft doesn't appear due to technical problems but that is understandable. It's an old and technical aircraft to look after with very high safety rules but when it doesn't appear because of no permit to fly?? That is just unbelievable!!! How can the 'management team' cock-up like this?

The aircraft itself has performed excellently so far this season even displaying in Holland a few weeks back and has only missed one performance due to a technical fault. As Dave said earlier the Technicians and the crew have done a fantastic job. As for the management...

I can’t see what the problem is, anyone who deals with aviation and the Campaign against Aviation will know that nothing is easy. I think the Vulcan crew has done an excellent job getting her air worthy again and their achievements shouldn’t be tarnished by their lack of time to carry out the conditions for the issue of a Permit to fly..... Although if the work has been done and it's down to paperwork then someone needs a talking to...

The Safety of the aircraft must come before the interests of a few disgruntled spotters that probably haven’t even noticed the absence of a flying Vulcan over the last 10 years.

Just got back from Waddo and had a great day out.

Too true, interesting to see that it ran out on the 3rd of July.... Just enough time to fly it into Waddo, shame they just didnt blag that it's in the post.

I was going to comment on the CAA being tossers for not extending it but i suppose the bottom line is the Vulcan management are at fault seen as the condition of issue was purly down to componant safety.

Wonder when it will be allowed to leave again??? Or do we need to fork out for another concrete plinth.
