Paul ~ Did you buy the Mosquito prototype painting flying past Salisbury Hall ?
I believe the MM started to rebuild refurbish it about five years and I never understood why it had been listed under three different numbers DH98, W4050 & E0234.
Mods you may want to relocate to the appropriate thread once we have the answers.
Hi Dave, Regards the Mosquito painting; no I never bought it at price £30. There was also a much smaller print which I didn't even consider, so just took a photograph of the larger one.
It was all apparently in aid of helping to restore another one to fly again in Britain.
I have only ever know this particular aircraft to be registered as W4050 ! Though looking carefully at the numbers on this print it definitely seems to end with a ...4 ?
On our last visit to Salisbury Hall this Yellow Mosquito was hanging on the wall sides in various pieces. What a total disgrace !!
The Mosquitos Dehavilland design number is DH98. Its military serial is W4050 and that is whats painted on the port side of its fuselage. On its starboard side is E-0234. Im guessing that the E number stands for experimental and is the forerunner of the G markings still in use today for manufacturers aircraft, but no doubt someone will be able to enlighten us!
