Sorry to say I believe none of the top brass police want to get involved in any such events- look how they kicked and screamed over the event at Prestwick the other week ; Mind that is police Scotland a leaderless bunch that has lost its way;

So that will be the same as the police in England then!
My conclusions for this is the present situation with the Vulcan.
We won't be allowed to do anything soon.

The passing of the show at Waddington is a disappointment. Lets hope that it can continue at Scampton and breath some extra life into that base.
I recall seeing a posting on the net, somewhere, speculating where all the base aircraft were going to be dispersed while Waddingtons runway was being rebuilt and Scampton came into the mix.
It was claimed that it could not be used because of the condition of the taxiways and hardstands.
As no aircraft seem to have been using it then possibly this was the case. I wonder if this would have any impact on holding a show there?

That's most definitely a limitation. Scampton can only take aircraft below a certain weight, as I hear it. A King Air is apparently quite close to the limit, so I guess that'd rule out a Tornado or bigger at 21000Kg plus. FOD from surfaces breaking up is also a problem. The airfield is getting like Fairford in the late 90's which resulted in a complete dig up and relay over a couple of years - don't see that happening at Scampton!

However, when Coningsby closes for runway work in the next couple of ears, it begs the question where everything's going!

The weight of the Reds C130 support aircraft has never had a problem operating out of Scampton. Not sure if they do still use a Herc or not these days though. If not then it could be because of the state of the taxyways/runways at Scampton or the RAF Herc fleets being so overstretched right now.

A few more here from the 2015 season -

We didn't go to the air show, but some friends did and posted the programme to us. Looks like it was a good event.

This is more of a problem in recent years Stevie. Don't know the last time a C-130 went into Scampton but the current advice seems to be that the runway ends, taxiways and hardstandings are significantly weight limited. It's one reason why Waddo's aircraft aren't at the obvious location currently!:D

I wonder if the Scampton situation was known about over 20 years ago? Back in 94 I was detached to Waddington ops and they were formulating plans for a runway resurfacing in 95. Plan then was for the E3s to detach to Scampton, but in the end the resurfacing was done at night.
