Thanks mate,
These three where a bit more alarmed as they walked out onto the runway and inadvertently became part of Captain Nevilles Flying Circus at one point. Thankfully they got out the way before any harm was done. I know the deer have lived there for hundreds of years but c'mon don't they know there's an airshow on??? -
Guys, I helped organise some of the ex-mil vehicles and a hangar history of the base for RAF Northolt, and I agree that the 15th June 2015 open day was a disappointment to the paying public and many were heard to say 'is that all there is'? For some reason the RAF don't appreciate that people like to see aircraft in a line up and in close proximity. The year before in 2014 the RAF station had a Spitfire, Hurricane and P-51 in their flying display but when they were parked up they were placed on the other side of the runway and not easy for the average camera to get a shot of for those locals who paid to attend.
I agree that some visiting aircraft that did attend were indeed placed away from the public, as mentioned above. As for the air show it was a shame that the weather was poor, which did not help, but I was lead to believe that some of the aircraft booked to attend were to have arrived the night before but didn't (unlike Sally B and the Grace Spitfire which were on hand on Friday)
I took these this morning ready for next weekend. Just hope that the weather is as good as it was last year, also hope that the Spitfire will be on time, unlike the Hurricane was last year which was a hour and a half late !
The Dead got memorials, The living got time.
