Timbo - welcome to the show. Your reaction mirrors the reaction of many who join AiX. Look forward to your contribution to the debate (interesting post on Machrihanish).
Forres and nearby Elgin had strange layouts. Grass airfields but in the case of Forres a long string of trach by the river with pans coming of it. Difficult to spot from the air I would imagine.

Hello Everybody, I am Black Shuck from deepest Darkest Norfolk. I am very interested in the American Airfields that are very prevalent in my neck of the woods. Also Fighter Command like R.A.F West Raynham, not a million miles from me. Hope to hear from any of you who have a similar interest or info about the Flixton Buckeroos. Cheers.

Belated greetings Black Shuck
I'm right near you by the sound of things ! (North-Norfolk)
Until now, I figured Jason was the only other guy on here in the same county as me, so it's good to see the numbers increase
Like you, it's the 8th A.F. bases round here (B.24 2nd Air-Div') that interest me the most,
(esp' my nearest x 2 Wendling & North Pickenham) although I'm also keen on Shipdham & others nearby...
I'm assuming your 'call-sign' is named (either) after the Mythical beast at Blythburgh (church) in Suffolk, or, the song about the same, from the 'Darkness' "Permission To Land" album ?
Having been to this forum frequently as a visitor, I thought that it was about time that I signed up - and having done so, I thought that it would be most unsociable of me not to pop in here and say hello.
My principal interest is in civil aviation and civil airfields - and the older and more obscure they are, the happier I am. Geographically that lies in those parts of the UK in which I have lived - which means that the thread sections relating to the south, the west midlands and the south-west are most likely to attract my attention - but I am also interested in French civil aviation and airfields, particularly those in the west of France where I live.
At present my research focuses upon civil airfields in Sussex between the wars and in the immediate post-war years, which is why I have opened with a plea for more information about Hastings Pebsham Aerodrome. Hopefully when I have pursued those researches to a point at which I have something interesting to say, I can share the results with those on this forum with a common interest - if there is anyone else whose interests are as obscure and arcane as mine!
You probably have already visited "Airfield Structure Audit (As Built)" towards the bottom of the forum index. But incase not, do as you may find it of some interest. And welcome to AiX.

Thank you for the welcome. Hugo, by way of specific response - no I haven't but it's not for want of trying. Whilst I'm sure that this is in consequence of my technological ineptitude, perhaps you can help me with more specific directions!
