Here is a picture of the shelter, an unusual brick built shelter with a reinforced concrete roof, part of the original bed frame is still in situ

Hi Folks,
I found this link via SESCO and found this form really informative.
I am living in Shanghai, since 2003, however my interest in Airfields started as a very young lad, living just outside the perimeter of RAF Dumfries.
At that time it was a National Service base for the RAF Regiment, if my memory serves me correctly the only regular aircraft landings were the big boss visiting.
When I have the chance to return to the UK on leave, I visit the extremely well run museum at RAF Dumfries.
On my last visit also visited RAF Carlisle museum, they have a Vulcan, my favourite aircraft, next to the Lancaster.
Anyway folks, your forum is keeping me sane in China, good posts, thanks to everyone
