Thank you Harboda77 for the correction. It is of course in Staffs and spelt Blythe Bridge,(ref. Geographia A1 Atlas of Stoke on Trent & Newcastle under Lyme).
I should have mentioned in my first post the my Mother had always said that my father was one of seven men sent to BB in 1939 from Liverpool, though we never met or heard of the others. We leased a house in Weston Rd, Western Coyney and father drove to work in his Ford Tudor, 8 HP, using a petrol allowance as there was no other transport to BB.

Misson is interesting because of the WW2 practice bombing range area and the amazing amount of munitions found dumped there during clearance by RAF Bomb Disposal. The Bloodhound site was built to the west of the range area. The wooded area existing today is post war plantation.
Welcome to the Forum! I have the details of a Lightning accident at Meir in 1944 but I'm away from home for the next few days so can't look them up for you until I get back. Quite a lot is known about Rootes activities at Blythe Bridge, some of it on the Meir thread on this forum, I think.
Thanks Dave, do you know where staff records for Rootes BB would be please? I'm desperate to find out more about my father! The Lightning accident is interesting too.
Exscouse now in Oz

It seems as though the Gisela book was hotly anticipated as far back as the 80s but I assume he wasn't able to complete it, from what you have written?
