A good day from Switzerland to all.

I'm a plastic modeller, and it's the reason why I made some research on the web about aircraft sheds of WWI period (I made actually a replic of a Bristol M.1C and I plan to put the model in a diorama with a small part of a shed from Marske airfield).
Of course google pointed on you excellent forum with a lot of first hand informations. Thanks to all the people who shared it. I'm now less ignorant thanks to you.
Good afternoon! I am Elizabeth Moore - my father was Charles Weaver. He was stationed at Halesworth with the 489th BG, 8th Army Air Corps. My father passed away this past June, and after seeing the recent photos of the airfield there, I'm glad he didn't make it back in recent years. I'm sorry that it's being torn up, and hope that something there will be preserved. The folks of the "Friends of the 489th" who run the museum and memorial are wonderful, and we are so terribly grateful for their efforts.
My father was a member of the crew of "Special Delivery", Frank Bodine's crew. He was a "Mickey" Navigator, and was the lead navigator for his squadron. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Hi & welcome to the forum . So sorry to here about your father passing away .
No w that the turkey sheds have gone how much longer the rest of the airfield remains is anyone's guess.
I do believe that they have erected solar panels on the western side of the airfield.
regards ,
Bomber .
Welcome to the forum. With the direct links to the last war disappearing fast and the tangible remains also disappearing it seems the weight of the memory is passing onto the children of those who took part. My Dad is now 93 but over the years I have stored many of his stories in my head and hopefully my children will show some interest in their Grandparents lives. I wonder if the post war generations have as much to talk about?
No Amount Of Evidence Will Ever Persuade An Idiot (probably not Mark Twain)
Have you seen my website: www.20thfightergroup.com
? There are lots of galleries there as well as a growing number of mission reports.
You should also join the Facebook group "20th Fighter Group Project" here: www.facebook.com/groups/248605168641868/
. Again lots of photos and some very knowledgable people who can answer most 20th related questions.
Who was your Father? I have a stack of documents from the 20th Fighter Group including mission reports, claims and lots of other stuff. I am happy to find anything I have that is relevant to you.
As you can see from my profile I live in King's Cliffe, I can see the airfield from my house! There are a few people left in the village who remember the war but that number is getting smaller quite quickly. Was there anything specific you were looking for?
