Took these today at Brightwalton, West Berkshire. Close to a very small place called Farnborough.

Amersham [Old town]







Took these last friday 04-11-2011 at Amersham [Old town] Bucks.

I was watching the BBC north west news tonight. The village of Withnall in Cheshire has had the plaques stolen from its war memorial, the local council are funding replacements but they wont be ready in time for Sunday. However the local primary school are making temporary replacements.

Seems to me that all those who gave their lives in both world wars done so for a Sick Society !!! What is wrong with these mindless idiots ? Even if they catch them what punishment would they get. Put them in the Army then send them to Iraq for a loooong tour !!

Took these today at Leckhampstead, close to RAF Welford.

An unusual looking memorial with a large type coin at the top and a wooden panel at the base with a padlock on it.

Im fairly certain that the large coin was one of the medals awarded to the families of those killed in WWI. Their nickname is deaths head pennies.

I think the obverse of the dead mans penny has a lion and I think Britannia holding a laurel in her outstrecthed hand. Must check my Grandfathers when I get home
