Does every book need an ISBN?

I bought one last week that has no ISBN and the previous edition of the same book had no ISBN. I have others without one.

I think Its the case of if you want the book listed with the British Library but its been some years so I cant honestly remember the full details now . . .

I just looked up the older of the two books that I mentioned, in the British Library catalogue. It is listed and still no ISBN.

I have a new version already written, it was nearly 400 pages but i have reduced it to 230 odd. It covers the period 1920_1945. There is also another covering up to 1920 but this one is not quite finished. However the 1920 to 45 version needs proof reading and there lies the problem.

After a couple of offers to carry our proof reading, the new version will be out in a few months.

Does anyone on here want to buy my spare copy of "British Military Airfield Architecture"? Only £179, and I'll stand the postage. (Just been on Amazon. Going for £180 there!) Who designs those algorithms!?

Ossington, you might want to retract your sale, as what is on offer is a pdf down load, not a hard copy book, although it is vastly superior to the original book.
