The first building looks like the Institute, usually found on the communal site. The Red feather Club at Horham Airfield, Suffolk is a great exaple of how it would have looked as it has been restored, though only the centre two Nissens are extant at present, although the longer of the two side annexes is being re-built at the moment. The site of the smaller side annexe can still be made out.

HI,

The program PaulB is using is Google Sketchup if I remember correctly.

I'm using Gmax but my model is nowhere near as accurate as Pauls!! Infact I'm amazed I got it to look anything like it does as I only had Norwichpauls photo above to work from.

Yes, I'm still working with SketchUp Free.

The first model is indeed an Institute and NAAFI Staff Quarters, based on measurements taken from the Red Feather Club and other sources.
Unfortunately, there are at least two different versions of this building, Type 700 (13048/41 & 651/42) and Type 140 Cpl 800 (2064/42), and I don't know which type the one at Horham is.
I get the impression it is the smaller of the two, as I have interior photos of other ones with extra windows and bays which could be the larger type.

PB

Hi

No I'm not a PC freak either!

Every piece of software has a learning curve of some kind and it's down to the person using it how quickly they can learn it. As far as Gmax goes I'd say it has a large learning curve especially if you have never done anything like it before, plus to use Gmax for anything useful it would require flight simulator.

Gmax is a largely stripped down version of 3dsmax and usually is shipped with a game but can be downloaded for free.

I'll need a long learning curve as usual... I am not from the 'PC generation' ! ! !

But definitely worth trying than taking a pen and starting the old fashion way...
